Expected $1 million in cuts
The Olympic College Budget Committee is expected to announce recommended cuts to college programs totaling nearly $1 million.

Recyclemania has begun at Olympic College and last year placed in the top third in the nation.
RecycleMania 2012 started Feb. 5 with 556 colleges and universities from around the United States and Canada competitively tracking recycling and trash weights.

Valentine’s Day Club Fair dumped, students dance away the heartache

The Valentine’s Day Club Fair in the Bremer Student Center was canceled at Olympic College Tuesday due to lack of participation.
The club fair was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but at 11 a.m. only five clubs had set up tables and the decision was made to pull the plug on the event.

Poulsbo and Shelton VPs move their work stations to the Bremerton campus

The Associated Students of Olympic College vice presidents of Poulsbo and Shelton moved their workstations from their satellite campuses to Bremerton this quarter, and are now being paid to travel to the campuses they agreed to represent.

‘Hear and Now’ in student center

Sally and Paul Taylor, a retired couple from Rochester, New York, starred in their own movie called “Hear and Now,” which was recently shown at Olympic College. The event was held in the Bremer Student Center during the evening of Feb. 9.

Olympic College students caught fresh powder at Stevens Pass during the annual ski trip as 47 students took to the slopes Saturday.
Tickets, $20, went on sale Jan. 11 and covered transportation and lift tickets.

In the third week of February the Associated Students of Olympic College lost two of their student leaders as one lost his eligibility due to grades, and another quit to spend more time with his family.

Student voice wanted for Weapons on campus policy

The administration at Olympic College held a forum Wednesday to gain input from students about what should be included in the upcoming revised campus weapons policy. The policy currently in place applies to students only, and Derrell Galloway, Associated Students of OC vice president of Poulsbo, said it was unfair for the policy to apply only to students, and not impose the same restrictions on staff and faculty.

Homicides connected

In the past several months two homicides and an assault have occurred in Bremerton near the Olympic College campus. Investigators said they suspect the attacks may be linked to the same person.

Latest art gallery exhibit shows some of Bremerton’s key areas painted as pixels

Olympic College students, teachers and volunteers gathered at the Gallery at OC Friday, to admire the finished mural on the gallery’s walls, titled “Bremerton in Color.”
The mural depicted some of the key areas in Bremerton such as the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Navy hospital.
