The Rangers finish up a disappointing season with a 4-19 record overall and a 2-14 record in league, finishing in ninth place in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College north division.
On Feb. 24 the Rangers faced off against Edmonds Community College. Although the Rangers did a good job at sharing the basketball, with five players scoring in double figures, including 16 from Ary Webb and 15 from Isaiah Thompson, the Rangers were no match for the Edmond Tritons who defeated the Rangers 107-81.
The Rangers were also out rebounded 35-51, making rebounds one of the main areas the Rangers will hope to improve on for next season.
After the loss to Edmonds, the Rangers concluded their season Feb. 27 with a home game against the second place Whatcom Orcas.
The Rangers stayed with the tough Whatcom team all the way through the game but in the end they fell just short, losing 67-70. Webb scored a team-high 21 points, while Thompson added 19. The Ranger’s lone sophomore Dietrich Rios scored eight points on his final game as a Ranger.
Although the Rangers did have a disappointing season they also were a very young team, a team with only one sophomore.
The Rangers could have as many as 12 to 13 players return next season, bringing leadership and experience, which the Rangers lacked this season.
Even though the Rangers could have up to 13 players returning still plan to do some strong recruiting and work hard over the off season.
“Recruiting is big,” said head coach Billy Landram, “having 12 to 13 players returning will be nice, over the off-season we will be hitting the weight room and playing in open gym, we need to improve our overall skills.”
If you don’t want to wait until next season to watch the Rangers play again, they will compete in a summer league in Bellevue, something they have done for the past six seasons.
