Olympic College held it’s student awards ceremony Wednesday at the Admiral Theater in Bremerton, giving administrators an opportunity to recognize the outstanding work students have contributed to the school.
Student awards is an annual event in which faculty nominate students for their achievements throughout the year.
Many departments nominated their best students for awards ranging from Christopher Green’s “Excellence in Community Leadership & Media Communications” award to Kathleen David’s “Princess of the Zingers” award.
One award was given in memory of Duane Nededog, the “In Loving Memory of a Student Who’s Spirit Will Live on in the Lives of Other” award, which was accepted by his friends.
Each student who received an award was called on stage and presented a certificate and an opportunity to shake the hands of members of the OC Board of Trustees.
“The award ceremony gives the student the chance to know just how important they are to our campus,” said Adriana Alexander.
Student leaders helped present a going-away plaque to Vice President of Student Services Rick MacLennan.
After awards were handed out a dessert buffet was opened and the OC Hip Hop club performed
