The 2010 – 2013 Olympic College Strategic Plan has been drafted and is in the process of being reviewed and revised before it is approved.
One of the ways the plan is used is as a means to implement the schools Mission and Vision Statements, and work them into everyday life on campus.
Each initiative has two faculty members assigned to it as chairpersons and can be contacted about the initiative to which they are assigned.
The three points of OC’s vision statement are, “our students are life-long learners in a global society,” “our employees are empowered to achieve the college mission,” and, “our community recognizes the college as its cornerstone of learning.”
The plan is made up of three initiatives, each one corresponding with the vision statement.
The initiative focused on student learning addresses maintaining or adding to enrollment, helping students complete their academic goals in a timely manner, curriculum assessments and higher success rates, “as defined by the state board’s Student Achievement Initiative.”
As the plan is now, employees will be asked to “reflect upon and account for Olympic College Values in our daily operations.”
The projected outcome for this part of the plan is that employees are more motivated, empowered and respectful.
Also included as outcomes are regular self-assessments and each employees ability to address change.
The plan for OC’s role in the community is to, “strengthen relationships with our communities to understand educational needs and provide learning opportunities relevant to those needs.”
To accomplish this task, feedback is sought out from business leaders in the area, which is used by the school to develop new programs.
One of the ways this has already been implemented is a policy to approve certification programs developed with employability in mind.
The new plan will be put into use at the beginning of the Fall Quarter and will continue until the end of the Spring Quarter 2013.
