A traveling comedian came to Olympic College for a free, impromptu show in the Humanities and Student Services Building’s Lecture Hall May 21.

Steve Hofstetter was performing a 21-and-over show in Seattle at the Hard Rock Café on May 20. In attendance were OC students including student organizer David White.

White approached Hofstetter to request that he do another show specifically to involve underage OC students. The entire show was planned and coordinated by the student organizers in a day.

Hofstetter was scheduled to perform shows throughout the Seattle area all that week. He performed at the Comedy Underground, the Tulalip Casino and he appeared on KING 5 news. However he was more than willing to add in another show to his schedule.

“I love college shows,” said Hofstetter. “I do 100 college shows a year, more than any other comedian.”

He is very appreciative of the receptive atmosphere a college age audience presents and said he favors that demographic. He does college tours and performs at large institutions such as Ohio State University and the University of Florida.

The crowd received him very well, and students were appreciative of the entertaining comedic display.

“It was nice that they did something like this for us,” said student Mark Turpin. “Especially on a Friday.”

Hofstetter was one of the original writers for the popular comedy website “College Humor.”

He has also appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Recently he released his album Steve Hofstetter’s Day Off.

His performance was a hit among the audience. His sense of humor seemed to fit in flawlessly with the OC crowd.

“It was funny as hell,” said student Adriana Alexander. “I knew it would be.”

Hofstetter was thrilled at how well the show was put together in such short notice and how large of a crowd showed up.

“What a show this turned out to be,” said Hofstetter. “It was great.”
