Olympic College's Valentine Shine received a high-student turnout and lively crowd on Feb. 14.
"This is the most people I've seen show up for anything," student Ariel McDermott said.
The Bremer Student Center has held many concerts and forums this year, but it was the Valentine Shine event that gathered the most significant amount of participants.
The BSC emitted love tunes and was filled with decorations, free food and lingering students.
A table near the bookstore was selling flowers and gifts for last-minute valentines.
The event kicked off with Bremerton artist James Hunnicut and his Rockabilly-style performance.
"The music was good Rock 'n' Roll," Peruvian student Ruth Montero said.
Hunnicut's first appearance at OC was last Halloween when he played with Devilock, a Misfits cover band.
Hunnicut said he hopes to take his passion and turn it into a full-time career.
"I love music first and foremost," he said.
Following Hunnicut's ballads, students participated in Valentine's Day games, such as Bachelorette, couples competitions and speed dating.
Last year a similar event took place on Feb. 9, but speed dating was the only activity.
It was the Multicultural Club who took the reins on the speed dating last year, but it's the new Student Organizers this year who have taken it the extra mile.
Last year the imprint of student organized events consisted mainly of open-mics.
There was clearly a sense of amusement from both the crowd and the dating-game participants.
"It's fun seeing everyone enjoy watching a couple," OC student Andrew de Leon said. "It's kinda like they're supporting you even though they're teasing you."
Couples competition winners Patricia Lewis and Jimmy King answered questions about relationship mistakes and pet peeves.
