Olympic College's men's basketball team failed to come up with a win in their last three games, two of which were at home.
Despite the outstanding performance of players like Duntae Jones, Julian Holiday and Patrick Lewis, the men couldn't keep the ten-point lead they created against Everett on Jan 9.
The team as a whole seems to lack the endurance to keep up with a fast-paced offense, perhaps a symptom of a team that is mostly comprised of freshmen.
The next week will make or break the men. They head to Shoreline, who is only two games up on OC in their division, Wednesday night. If the Rangers can muster enough endurance for the win they'll catch up with their female counterparts who are in the middle of the pack.
The men have to prepare themselves to face Bellevue on Saturday.
The next Rangers home game will be Jan. 26 against Skagit Valley. It's hard to say if they will return as respectable competitors or linger at the bottom.
Lady Rangers land in the middle of the pack halfway through the season
With five weeks left in the season, OC's Women's basketball team is staying competitive and looking to make improvements.
They were 1-1 last week with a tough loss against Everett at home on Jan. 9, but toppled Peninsula on Saturday, 75-64.
Paul Felker said the ladies had made adjustments on offense but now they need to make some changes on defense to keep up.
"Our offense is looking a lot better," Felker said after their loss at home versus Everett.
Ranger Megan Gilbert, a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood, said the team is begining to find its stride.
"We're starting to come in as a whole team," said Gilbert, adding they continue to struggle with communication on the court.
The Ladies are traveling to Shorline Wednesday night, who are in next to last place in the north division, then face 8-8 Bellevue.
The Ladies will be returning home on Jan. 26 to meet number two ranked Skagit Valley. The game starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Bremer Student Center.
