College Women's basketball
team embarking on
their upcoming season,
head coach Paul Felker
will be looking to bounce
back from a 5-21 record
last season.
"We have good shooters,
good chemistry, and
we work well together,"
Felker said.
Felker will be looking to
Megan Gilbert, Coty Ettl,
and Patrcia Lewis to come
up with some key plays.
The women started the
season with four straight
losses beginning with
a 105-72 pounding from
Lane on the first day of
the Shoreline Turkey Shoot
Out on Nov. 16.
The next day of the tournament
the ladies struggled
against Linn-Benton
and were defeated, 90-64.
In their first home game
the Rangers were unable
to rally together for a win
against Green River, walking
away with a 72-54
loss.While the rest of OC
students were still recovering
from Thanksgiving,
the team traveled to South
Puget Sound and nearly
clinch a win but came up a
little short, losing 74-77.
After the teams first win
on Nov. 28 over Pierce,
Felker said, "It was nice
to get that first win. That
initial pressure to win is
gone. A weight has been
lifted off our shoulders."
The Lady Rangers beat
Pierce 81-75.
With the league games
starting in January, Felker
said he feels his team will
be ready to go.
"The confidence is there.
We have a confident team,"
Felker said. "This year
everyone has something to
bring."
"Oh yeah, we're confident
this season. Very
much so," sophomore
Laraa Brown said.
When asked if the team
works well together, Brown
and Ariel McDermott both
said, "Yea, for sure."
With a competitive
league this year the girls
are really looking forward
to the season to win their
games and just have fun.
They're also looking to
turn some heads and mix
up the league.
"Were the underdogs,"
Brown said. "Were gonna
surprise people and really
show them what we can
do."
The ladies travel to
Green River Wednesday
night for a rematch at 6
p.m.
