Bremerton campus
celebrated Autumn Fest on
Thursday by kicking off a
holiday food drive with
live music performances.
The Student Leadership
Team and the Associated
Students of OC collaborated
on the event and agreed
that a food drive would
be a great way to bring
students together and help
out needy families.
"We're doing the
food drive because we
realize that it's really
important for OC to be a
positive participant in the
community," said ASOC
President Leslie Miller.
According to the ASOC,
there was positive feedback
from the students about the
bands and a really good
response to the food drive.
"I loved the music,"
OC student Kevin Stueve
said. "I think bringing in a
band is a great way to get
everyone informed about
the food drive."
Seattle musician
Jonathon Kingham and
local band I Coyote
performed at the event.
"It's great to see a
school give back to their
community," Kingham
said. "I'm glad I was able
to be a part of it."
According to OC student organizer
Greg Rivers, the Student Leadership Team
plans one to two events each quarter and
student input is highly appreciated.
"The focus this year is going to be on
really making OC events student-driven.
We really want students' opinions on
how they want their money spent," Miller
said.
The Holiday Food Drive goes on until
Dec. 12 and students are encouraged to
donate.
"Today was a great start. We just really
want to let students know that they can
come and donate food," Miller said.
Proceeds from the food drive will be
evenly distributed between the Olympic
High School Outreach Dinner, Bremerton
Foodline and Central Kitsap Food Bank.
