Olympic College students will have much to look forward when the soon to be completed, state-of-the-art Science/ Technology Building opens in the fall.

Dave Bartelhiem, director of facilities, said he promises that the Science/Tech Building will "satisfy and benefit" OC students and faculty for many years to come.

Bartelhiem said that the new building is "out of this world" and doesn't compare to any other facility on campus. With the new modernized advances and equipment that the new facility has to offer, teachers and students will be in for a learning experience that is something out of the ordinary.

The official date of the building's opening has not been announced because once the constructors are complete they will have to than turn over an occupancy permit to the college, which states that the new facility will be safe to be in. However, the Science/Tech Building will most likely open just before fall quarter begins.

The concept of the new building came about six years ago after inspections were made throughout the campus facilities. OC then requested the funding for this year's new building through the state legislature.

As for the old Math/Science Building, which was built in 1953, the eradication process of internally removing asbestos and demolishing the building followed by excavating the land area is to take place during early August. Then construction on the new Humanities Building will begin and should be complete in 2009.
